Once a hair follicle is successfully and completely treated, it can no longer produce hair. However, multiple sessions are necessary to address follicles as they become treatable throughout the hair growth cycle. Hormonal changes can also contribute to new hair growth in previously untreated follicles.
-
Every client is different. Your treatment plan depends on the area being treated, hair density, hair growth cycles, hormonal factors, and consistency with appointments. Multiple sessions are typically needed to achieve your desired results. A consultation is the best place to start!
-
Comfort levels vary from person to person and depend on the treatment area and individual sensitivity. You may experience a brief stinging, warming, or tingling sensation during treatment. We'll work with you to make your experience as comfortable as possible.
-
Shaving or trimming is generally acceptable between sessions. Avoid tweezing, waxing, threading, or other methods that pull hair from the root, as these can interfere with treatment progress. Your electrologist can recommend the best approach for your treatment plan.
-
Arrive with clean skin and no makeup, lotions, oils, or deodorants on the treatment area. Stay hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment and avoid caffeine on treatment day if possible. Review our Client Preparation instructions for more details once you’re on the schedule.
-
Temporary redness and mild swelling are common and generally subside within a short time. Following your aftercare instructions helps minimize irritation and support healing. Avoid makeup on the treated area for 24 hours and protect your skin from sun exposure.
-
Most clients can return to their normal daily activities after treatment. However, temporary redness, swelling, or sensitivity may occur. Your skin's response depends on the treatment area, session length, and individual skin sensitivity.
-
Your consultation gives us time to review your intake forms, discuss your goals, explain the electrolysis process, and develop a personalized treatment plan. Your initial 45-minute appointment includes 15 minutes for consultation and planning, followed by 30 minutes of treatment.

Yes! Electrolysis can be an excellent option for hair that remains after laser treatments, including lighter-colored hairs that laser may not effectively target. We'll assess your needs and discuss the best approach during your consultation. Electrolysis DURING laser treatments is not allowed at J.BUR Electrolysis.
-
As a precaution, J.BUR Electrolysis does not perform electrolysis treatments on pregnant clients. Although research on electrolysis during pregnancy is limited, we prioritize your safety and your baby's well-being. We recommend waiting until after pregnancy to begin or resume treatments and consulting your healthcare provider with any questions.

Many women choose electrolysis for the bikini area, buttocks, and breasts to address unwanted hair, reduce irritation from shaving or waxing, and enjoy long-term smoothness and confidence. Hormonal changes can also contribute to unwanted hair growth in these areas. Because electrolysis works on all hair colors and skin tones, it's a versatile option for permanent hair removal. At J.BUR Electrolysis, we offer intimate area treatments for women only; services for men's intimate areas, including the bikini and buttocks, are not currently available.

Electrolysis can sometimes cause temporary changes in skin pigmentation, including dark spots, particularly in skin that is prone to hyperpigmentation. This can happen as the skin heals after treatment and may be influenced by your skin type, individual healing response, and aftercare. While these changes are often temporary, they can occasionally last longer. At J.BUR Electrolysis, your skin and treatment goals are carefully considered to help minimize irritation and support proper healing. Following pre- and post-treatment instructions is essential, and any history of hyperpigmentation should be discussed during your consultation.
-
Certain scars, especially raised or thickened scars known as keloids or hypertrophic scars, may indicate a tendency toward abnormal scar formation. Because electrolysis creates a tiny insertion point in the skin, your healing history helps me assess potential risks and determine the most appropriate approach to treatment. Please let me know about any history of keloids, unusual scarring, or delayed healing during your consultation so we can discuss your individual needs and treatment options.

J.BUR Electrolysis welcomes teens ages 14 and older with a parent or legal guardian’s consent and a signed waiver. Teens may consider electrolysis to address unwanted facial or body hair, manage hormonal hair growth, or feel more confident in their skin. Every client receives personalized care, and treatment eligibility is assessed individually to ensure the service is appropriate for their needs.
-
Treatment pricing varies depending on the area being treated, the time required, and the level of privacy and specialized care involved. Some areas, particularly intimate treatment areas, may have a higher starting price. Your exact cost will be discussed before treatment so you know what to expect—no surprises, just personalized care tailored to your needs.

Not always. Hair grows in different stages, and the stage a hair is in during treatment can affect the outcome. Because not every hair is equally responsive at every point in its growth cycle, multiple treatments are typically needed to achieve permanent results.
At J.BUR Electrolysis, treatment is personalized to your hair, skin, and comfort level. We use appropriate treatment settings and carefully adjust the intensity to deliver effective treatment while prioritizing your comfort. By working at the appropriate level rather than using unnecessarily high intensity, we aim to minimize discomfort while treating each follicle effectively. Consistency with your appointments is key to achieving your best long-term results.
